hey guys,

i have been a canon 5d mark iv shooter for a long time and bought a r6mark ii and when I look at my 5d images - in most cases - they look way better, there is more quality to the image. there is 6mp difference, i know, but it came as a surprise to me. I downloaded the preview sample gallery of the r5 and still I think the 5d mark iv images look better.

the r5/r6 images don't look bad, but there is just more quality in the image of the 5d mark iv. I also like the colors of the 5d more than the r6/r5.

I was wondering if IBIS is the cause of this quality loss, I have no pro engineering experience but it feels like too much shake correction with is and ibis is decreasing image quality. for me it feels like a static sensor provides better images, but of course, you have more steady shots with the r system.

I was wondering if anyone experienced something similar, because on youtube everyone is kind of declaring the r5 as the clear winner, but for me it is tough to say that. AF, video specs yes, but just photo quality, I think the 5D Mark IV is even better.

Nope. Not my experience at all. There was little obvious/visual difference between the two, but to the extent that there was I definitely leaned towards the R5. I kept them both for a year and a half before deciding to lket many 5DIV go (to my adult son, so its still in the family, sort of).

One area where the R5 was clearly far ahead of the 5DIV was in stabilization, especially when used with RF L series lenses (compared to the 5DIV with stabilized EF L lenses). The ability to get tack sharp images with the likes fo the RF 70-200 F2.8 L at very very slow shutter speeds (e.g.1/10th of a second at 200mm) is unparalleled in MY experience with other non R series camera/lens combinations.
