So I have a shoot concept, and I love Octopusses. I'm looking to color one maybe pink or red. Like completely color it. Any idea the best way to go about this? It's already dead and frozen so inhumane is out the window to me. Spray paint would kill the flexibility and realness of it. I was thinking maybe hair dye but Idk if that would hold.

If you've never touched one, it's quite slimy, as a fish would be. Incase that's not obvious. People dye salmon and other fish, so surely it's doable? Preferably something that could also mask the odor at least temporarily?

Try light painting. Set up in the dark or use NDs, then add a colored gel to a flashlight or penlight and brush paint the color. You can narrow the beam with a little tactical flashlight.

Practice on something similar to learn the routine, but I'm sure that would work. I can do a lot within a 15 second exposure on a tabletop. You wouldn't have to touch the subject.
